444 Hungarian Verbs is not a philological treatise. It is a practical handbook for students of the Hungarian language and their teachers. It is by an English-speaker and provides teachers and students of the Hungarian language with a useful learning tool that has been largely lacking until now in English. It is in libraries at the University of Vienna and, in the United States, at Cornell University, the University of Florida and the University of Ohio.
The main 222 verbs are fully conjugated, one verb to a page. All the tables are easy to read and easy to learn. They show each verb in the common tenses and moods and, where applicable, in the Definite and the Indefinite. Another 222 verbs are cross-referenced to verbs whose conjugations they share. This is done through an extensive double index of 30 pages in which each verb and its English meanings (of which there are often two or more) are connected.
There is also a section containing useful notes on Hungarian grammar, mainly about verbs, not just the simple tenses and moods but also some more complicated verbal structures.
